Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Step out of the city life by going to Emu Point and Elephant Rocks. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Middleton Beach and Shelley Beach. Take a break from Albany with a short trip to Cheynes Beach in Waychinicup National Park, about 50 minutes away. The adventure continues: stroll through Little Beach and pause for some photo ops at Desert Mounted Corps Memorial.

A relaxed town of tree-shaded streets and scenic coastal stretches, Broome gained renown as a center of the pearling industry in the late 19th century.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Fri): see the interesting displays at SSJG Heritage Centre, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Catholic Diocese of Broome, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Japanese Cemetery, and finally kick back and relax at Broome Town Beach.

You can fly from Albany to Broome in 5.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus, train, and flight; or drive. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Albany in January: highs in Broome hover around 39°C, while lows dip to 30°C. Settled by colonists and convicts in 1829, Fremantle has transformed its infamous historical buildings into cultural centers.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Sat): steep yourself in history at Fremantle Prison, kick back and relax at City Beach, and then steep yourself in history at The Fremantle Round House.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Broome to Fremantle in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Bunker Bay and Caves Road. Take a break from the city and head to Gnarabup Beach and Canal Rocks. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Margaret River: Yallingup Beach (in Yallingup) and Meelup Beach (in Dunsborough). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Hamelin Bay, do a tasting at Howard Park - Margaret River Winery and Cellar Door, tour the pleasant surroundings at Surfers Point, and take in the exciting artwork at Jahroc Galleries.
