Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Rising Star Winery and National Anzac Centre. Visit Cheynes Beach and Middleton Beach for some beach relaxation. Explore Albany's surroundings by going to Lowlands Beach (in Lowlands), Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup) and Denmark (Parry Beach, Greens Pool, & more). There's much more to do: stroll through Little Beach, appreciate the history behind Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, and enjoy the sand and surf at Nanarup Beach.

Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. Relax by the water at Thistle Cove and Cape Le Grand National Park. Attractions like Blue Haven Beach and Ten Mile Lagoon make great kid-friendly stops. Next up on the itinerary: enjoy the sand and surf at Hellfire Bay and contemplate the long history of Esperance Stonehenge.
