Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Thu): look for gifts at Gourlay's Sweet Shop and then appreciate the views at The Tamar Valley. Here are some ideas for day two: identify plant and animal life at Cataract Gorge Reserve, take an in-depth tour of Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery, and then walk around City Park.

Sydney to Launceston is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Sydney in March, with highs in Launceston at 26°C and lows at 11°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Stanley.

Stanley is a town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia. On the 30th (Sat), make a trip to Joe Lyons Cottage, then look for gifts at The Angel's Share, then steep yourself in history at Highfield Historic Site, and finally look for all kinds of wild species at The Nut State Reserve.

Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Tue): appreciate the extensive heritage of Port Arthur Historic Site, steep yourself in history at Australian Convict Sites, and then make a trip to Remarkable Cave. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: stroll through Three Capes Track, then identify plant and animal life at Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, and then get engrossed in the history at Eaglehawk Neck Historic Site.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Step out of Hobart to go to Brighton and see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, which is approximately 30 minutes away. On the 5th (Fri), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's lots more to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, get curious at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, contemplate the long history of Hobart Convict Penitentiary, and examine the collection at Mawson's Hut Replica Museum.

You can drive from Port Arthur to Hobart in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In April in Hobart, expect temperatures between 21°C during the day and 9°C at night. You will have some time to spend on the 8th (Mon) before leaving for home.
