Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Kids will enjoy Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Bellerive Beach. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Seven Mile Beach and Long Beach. Sydney to Hobart is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Sydney in October: high temperatures in Hobart hover around 20°C and lows are around 9°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Port Arthur.

When in Coles Bay, make a side trip to see East Coast Natureworld in Bicheno, approximately 32 minutes away.
