A holiday in Port Douglas balances an activity-filled getaway with plenty of opportunities to relax, thanks to its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and bustling beach life.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Daintree Discovery Centre and Ngarru Gallery. Take a break from the city and head to Safaris and Mossman Gorge. Step out of Port Douglas to go to Thornton Beach and see Thornton Beach, which is approximately 54 minutes away. Spend the 7th (Sun) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Palm Cove Beach and Trinity Beach. St Monica's Cathedral and McLeod Street Pioneer Cemetery will appeal to history buffs. Step out of Cairns with an excursion to Village Gallery in Palm Cove--about 36 minutes away. Spend the 12th (Fri) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. Spend the 13th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Longreach is a town in Central West Queensland, Australia approximately 700km from the coast, west of Rockhampton. Start off your visit on the 16th (Tue): examine the collection at QANTAS Founders Museum, then examine the collection at Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre, and then contemplate the long history of Longreach.
