Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Change things up with a short trip to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton (about 30 minutes away). On the 3rd (Mon), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's much more to do: admire the natural beauty at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, get curious at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, appreciate the extensive heritage of Battery Point Sculpture Trail, and take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington.

Perth to Hobart is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Perth to Hobart. Traveling from Perth in June, things will get slightly colder in Hobart: highs are around 15°C and lows about 5°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Port Arthur.

Kick off your visit on the 5th (Wed): take an in-depth tour of Port Arthur Historic Site, steep yourself in history at Australian Convict Sites, and then don't miss a visit to Remarkable Cave. Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
On the 7th (Fri), get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, then walk along Wineglass Bay Lookout, and then visit a coastal fixture at Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
