Kick off your visit on the 17th (Mon): do a tasting at Velo Winery & Cellar Door. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: contemplate the long history of Woolmers Estate, then contemplate the long history of Brickendon Colonial Farm Village, then identify plant and animal life at Cataract Gorge Reserve, and finally admire the verdant scenery at The Tamar Valley.

Melbourne to Launceston is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of ferry and car. In December, Launceston is little chillier than Melbourne - with highs of 25°C and lows of 10°C. On the 19th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Scamander.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Step out of the city life by going to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Seven Mile Beach. Relax by the water at Lime Bay State Reserve and Cooks Beach. When in Hobart, make a side trip to see Port Arthur Historic Site in Port Arthur, approximately 1h 10 min away. The adventure continues: get a taste of the local shopping with Salamanca Market, enjoy the sand and surf at Kingston Beach, stroll through Bellerive Beach, and sample the tasty concoctions at Cascade Brewery.

Traveling by car from Scamander to Hobart takes 3 hours. In December, plan for daily highs up to 24°C, and evening lows to 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Strahan.

Ulverstone is a town on the northern coast of Tasmania, Australia on the mouth of the Leven River, on Bass Strait. Shop till you drop at Under The Oak, handmade gallery and gifts and Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition and Visitor Information Centre. Take a break from the city and head to Dove Lake Circuit and Marion's Lookout Walk. Venture out of the city with trips to Gunns Plains Caves (in Gunns Plains) and Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park (Devils @ Cradle & Cradle Mountain). And it doesn't end there: identify plant and animal life at Wings Wildlife Park, stroll the grounds of Penguin General Cemetery & Vantage Point, and do a tasting at Leven Valley Vineyard.
