Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Visit Woolmers Estate and Brickendon Colonial Farm Village for their historical value. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Goaty Hill Wines and Ghost Rock Tasmania. Venture out of the city with trips to Loira Vines (in Sidmouth), Holm Oak Vineyards (in Rowella) and Reliquaire (in Latrobe). There's more to do: contemplate the long history of Entally Estate and look for all kinds of wild species at Tamar Island Wetlands.
