Take a break from the city and head to Manly Beach and Coogee Beach. The Rocks and Sydney Opera House are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Thu): get to know the fascinating history of Battery Point Sculpture Trail, then contemplate the long history of Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Opossum Bay Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: enjoy the sand and surf at Long Beach, identify plant and animal life at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, and then contemplate the long history of Hobart Convict Penitentiary.

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Yallingup Beach and Hamelin Bay. Shop till you drop at Margaret River Chocolate Company and Jahroc Galleries. Change things up with these side-trips from Margaret River: Meelup Beach (in Dunsborough) and Augusta (Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse & Jewel Cave). There's lots more to do: Head underground at Mammoth Cave, stop by Mukau Giftware & Gallery, kick back and relax at Surfers Point, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Cowaramup Bay.
