Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Step off the beaten path and head to Little Beach and Albany Wind Farm. When in Albany, make a side trip to see Greens Pool in Denmark, approximately 1 hour away. There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Middleton Beach, examine the collection at Albany's Historic Whaling Station, pause for some photo ops at Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, and explore the striking landscape at The Gap and Natural Bridge.
