The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Get out of town with these interesting Darwin side-trips: Crazy Acres (in Berry Springs) and Litchfield National Park (in Batchelor). Spend the 9th (Mon) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 15th (Sun) at Darwin Waterfront. There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Mindil Beach, admire the natural beauty at George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, make a splash at Wave Lagoon, and take a leisurely stroll along Darwin Wharf Precinct.

Sydney to Darwin is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Sydney, expect much warmer days and a bit warmer nights in Darwin, ranging from highs of 36°C to lows of 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Mon) early enough to travel to Broome.

A relaxed town of tree-shaded streets and scenic coastal stretches, Broome gained renown as a center of the pearling industry in the late 19th century.
Spend the 18th (Wed) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Cable Beach, get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, make a trip to Broome Factory, and stop by Uniquely Broome.
