Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Mona and Mawson's Hut Replica Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Do your shopping at Salamanca Market and Hammer and Hand Metal Gallery. Step out of Hobart to go to Brighton and see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, which is approximately 30 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, kick back and relax at Cooks Beach, steep yourself in history at Hobart Convict Penitentiary, and stroll through Long Beach.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Take a break from the city and head to Wineglass Bay Lookout and Friendly Beaches. We've included these beaches for you: Coles Bay Jetty and Honeymoon Bay. Step out of Coles Bay to go to Swansea and see Melshell Oysters, which is approximately 46 minutes away. Spend the 17th (Wed) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. There's more to do: learn about winemaking at Gala Estate Vineyard and relax in the rural setting at Freycinet Marine Farm.
