Sheffield
Sheffield is a town 23 kilometres inland from Devonport on the north-west coast of Tasmania. Start off your visit on the 8th (Mon): admire all the interesting features of Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm Cheese. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 9th (Tue): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Cradle Mountain and then contemplate the waterfront views at Dove Lake Circuit.

Sydney to Sheffield is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Expect little chillier temperatures when traveling from Sydney in July; daily highs in Sheffield reach 13°C and lows reach 2°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Wed) to allow time to drive to Launceston.

Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Family-friendly places like Seahorse World and Tassie Tiger Mini Golf will thrill your kids. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Launceston: Platypus House (in Beauty Point), Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre (in Beaconsfield) and Mt George Lookout (in George Town). Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Bring the kids along to Wineglass Bay Lookout and Coles Bay Jetty. Get out of town with these interesting Coles Bay side-trips: Swansea (Spiky Beach Conservation Area & Melshell Oysters). And it doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Wineglass Bay, tour the pleasant surroundings at Honeymoon Bay, make a trip to Bicheno Blowhole, and visit a coastal fixture at Cape Tourville Lighthouse.

Kids will enjoy Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and Pooseum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hobart: Port Arthur Historic Site (in Port Arthur) and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton). On the 18th (Thu), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour.
