Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Adelaide in December: high temperatures in Launceston hover around 25°C and lows are around 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Coles Bay.

You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Stewarts Bay and Fortescue Bay. Change things up with a short trip to Fossil Bay Lookout in Eaglehawk Neck (about 30 minutes away). Getting from Coles Bay to Port Arthur by car takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 24°C, and evening lows to 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Wed) to allow time to drive to Hobart.
