Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Seven Mile Beach and Kingston Beach. Get outdoors at Three Capes Track and Mount Wellington. When in Hobart, make a side trip to see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton, approximately 30 minutes away. There's lots more to do: step off the mainland to explore Maria Island National Park, tour the pleasant surroundings at Opossum Bay Beach, contemplate the waterfront views at Sandy Bay, and browse the different shops at Cat and Fiddle Arcade.

Adelaide to Hobart is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Adelaide in February: high temperatures in Hobart hover around 26°C and lows are around 14°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Mon) so you can go by car to Coles Bay.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Spiky Beach Conservation Area and Freycinet National Park. You'll get in some beach time at Friendly Beaches and Wineglass Bay Lookout. When in Coles Bay, make a side trip to see Melshell Oysters in Swansea, approximately 46 minutes away.
