Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Lowlands Beach and Greens Pool. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Cheynes Beach and Anvil Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup) and Denmark (Rising Star Winery & Harewood Estate Winery). The adventure continues: get engrossed in the history at Albany's Historic Whaling Station, stroll through Little Beach, kick back and relax at Nanarup Beach, and see the interesting displays at National Anzac Centre.

To find maps, more things to do, reviews, and other tourist information, read our Albany sightseeing planner.

Lagos, Nigeria to Albany is an approximately 33-hour flight. You'll lose 7 hours traveling from Lagos to Albany due to the time zone difference. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Lagos in January, with highs in Albany at 29°C and lows at 16°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) early enough to travel to Coles Bay.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Let the collections at St Marys Cranks and Tinkerers and Madd=Mudd Studio Gallery capture your imagination. Explore hidden gems such as East Coast Natureworld and Craigie Knowe Vineyard. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Coles Bay: Spring Vale Wines (in Cranbrook), Denison Beach (in Bicheno) and Swansea (East Coast Heritage Museum & Spiky Beach Conservation Area). And it doesn't end there: do a tasting at Devil's Corner Cellar Door, view the masterpieces at Gone Rustic Studio and Gallery, and kick back and relax at Wineglass Bay Lookout.
