The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Explore hidden gems such as Wangi Falls and Florence Falls. Change things up with a short trip to Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve in Humpty Doo (about 56 minutes away). The adventure continues: bet on your favorite at Hidden Valley Motor Sports Complex, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral, examine the collection at 1934 Qantas Hangar, and don't miss a visit to Nightcliff Jetty.

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
On the 1st (Tue), take in the dramatic scenery at Josephine Falls and then look for all kinds of wild species at Atherton Tablelands. Here are some ideas for day two: relax in the rural setting at Gallo DairyLand, explore the world behind art at Samurai Gallery Australia, and then step off the mainland to explore Michaelmas Cay.

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Sat): explore the striking landscape at Elephant Rocks, then make a trip to Castle Rock, and then make a trip to Field of Light: Avenue of Honour. On your second day here, take a tour of Replica of the Brig Amity, don't miss a visit to Chainsaw Sculpture Drive, and then explore the wealth of natural beauty at Porongurup National Park.

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Bunker Bay and Stella Bella Wines. Step out of Margaret River with an excursion to Sugarloaf Rock in Cape Naturaliste--about 52 minutes away. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Margaret River Mouth Beach, do a tasting at Voyager Estate, look for all kinds of wild species at Eagles Heritage Wildlife Centre, and stop by Moon Haven Natural Products.
