On the 29th (Sun), learn about all things military at Ballina Naval & Maritime Museum, tour the pleasant surroundings at Lighthouse Beach, then look for all kinds of wild species at Broken Head Nature Reserve, and finally kick back and relax at Broken Head Beach. On the 30th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: browse the exhibits of Hammer and Hand Byron Bay Jewellery and Metal Collective, then take in the exciting artwork at Lone Goat Gallery, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Wategos Beach.

You can drive from Port Macquarie to Byron Bay in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or take a bus. When traveling from Port Macquarie in December, plan for a bit warmer days in Byron Bay, with highs around 34°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) so you can take a bus to Gold Coast.
