A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Visiting Trinity Beach and Balloon Rides will get you outdoors. Step off the beaten path and head to Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and Earl Hill. Spend the 6th (Fri) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. Very much a town with an emphasis on the tropical lifestyle, Airlie Beach offers exotic surroundings with palm trees and charming, sandy beaches.
On the 12th (Thu), discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour. On your second day here, kick back and relax at Whitehaven Beach, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and then stop by Above & Below Photography.

Once just a small port at the mouth of Mooloolah River, Mooloolaba is now a hotbed of tourism and a place more than worth adding to your Sunshine Coast itinerary.
Kick off your visit on the 14th (Sat): delve into the lush surroundings at Buderim Forest Park, then stroll through Kings Beach, and then kick back and relax at Mooloolaba Beach.
