Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Tahune Forest AirWalk and Mawson's Hut Replica Museum. Step out of Hobart with an excursion to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton--about 30 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, examine the collection at Mona, snap pictures at Tasman Bridge, and get great views at Mount Nelson Lookout.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Fri): relax in the rural setting at Freycinet Marine Farm, then get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, and then don't miss a visit to Bicheno Blowhole.
