Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Get outdoors at Cataract Gorge Reserve and The Tamar Valley. Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre and Woolmers Estate are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Go for a jaunt from Launceston to Beauty Point to see Platypus House about 48 minutes away. Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Step out of the city life by going to Wineglass Bay Lookout and East Coast Natureworld. You'll get in some beach time at Friendly Beaches and Coles Bay Jetty. Spend the 22nd (Fri) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park.
