George Town is a large town in north-east Tasmania, on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Tamar River. On the 4th (Mon), look for all kinds of wild species at Platypus House, look for gifts at Goaty Hill Wines, learn about winemaking at Holm Oak Vineyards, explore the galleries of Tamar Valley Art Shack, then enjoy the sea views from The Low Head Lighthouse, and finally learn about all things military at Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum. Here are some ideas for day two: discover the riches below the earth's surface at Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre, then learn about winemaking at Moores Hill Estate, then learn about winemaking at Bay of Fires Winery, and finally examine the collection at Bass & Flinders Centre.

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Spiky Beach Conservation Area and Tasmanian Wool Centre.. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Friendly Beaches and Wineglass Bay Lookout. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Coles Bay: Spring Vale Wines (in Cranbrook), Melshell Oysters (in Swansea) and Raspins Beach (in Orford). Spend the 7th (Thu) exploring nature at Freycinet National Park. There's much more to do: visit a coastal fixture at Cape Tourville Lighthouse, take in the exciting artwork at Waubs Bay Gallery, and learn about winemaking at Devil's Corner Cellar Door.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
