Mole Creek is a town in the upper Mersey Valley, in the central north of Tasmania, Australia. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Marakoopa Cave and Mole Creek Caves. Step out of the city life by going to Lake St. Clair and Cradle Mountain. Explore Mole Creek's surroundings by going to Coles Beach (in Devonport), The Wall in the Wilderness (in Derwent Bridge) and Devils @ Cradle (in Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park). It doesn't end there: identify plant and animal life at Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and take in the dramatic natural features at Alum Cliffs.

To find ratings, reviews, maps, and more tourist information, you can read our Mole Creek journey maker app .

Townsville to Mole Creek is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Traveling from Townsville in January, you will find days in Mole Creek are slightly colder (28°C), and nights are colder (12°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Coles Bay.

Coles Bay

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Explore hidden gems such as Friendly Beaches and Freycinet National Park. Visit Wineglass Bay Lookout and Honeymoon Bay for some beach relaxation. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Coles Bay: East Coast Natureworld (in Bicheno), Melshell Oysters (in Swansea) and St Columba Waterfall (in St Helens). And it doesn't end there: take in the waterfront at Coles Bay Jetty, relax in the rural setting at Freycinet Marine Farm, learn about winemaking at Gala Estate Vineyard, and get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.

Plan my Coles Bay trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

Traveling by car from Mole Creek to Coles Bay takes 3 hours. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Sun) so you can go by car to Hobart.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
We've included these beaches for you: Seven Mile Beach and Bellerive Beach. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Maria Island National Park and Tahune Forest AirWalk. Get out of town with these interesting Hobart side-trips: Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton), Waterfall Bay (in Eaglehawk Neck) and Russell Falls (in Mount Field National Park). There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Opossum Bay Beach, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, look for all kinds of wild species at Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, and stroll through Kingston Beach.

Plan trip to Hobart with our itinerary maker to find out where to go and what to do.

Getting from Coles Bay to Hobart by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of taxi and bus. In January, plan for daily highs up to 26°C, and evening lows to 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
