A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Providore and Brown Hill Estate are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step off the beaten path and head to Bunker Bay and Wise Wine. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Margaret River: Yallingup (Canal Rocks & Yallingup Beach) and Dunsborough (Meelup Beach & Dolphin & Whale Watching). Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Lucky Bay and Blue Haven Beach. Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sun): contemplate the waterfront views at Kalgan River, kick back and relax at Little Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Nanarup Beach.
