A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Sat): explore the fascinating underground world of Lake Cave, explore the fascinating underground world of Mammoth Cave, then do a tasting at Heydon Estate, and finally stroll through Meelup Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: enjoy the sand and surf at Surfers Point, kick back and relax at Cowaramup Bay, and then indulge your senses at some of the top wineries in the area.

Albany

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Lowlands Beach and Misery Beach. Visit Nanarup Beach and Shelley Beach for some beach relaxation. Take a break from Albany with a short trip to Cosy Corner Beach in Kronkup, about 32 minutes away. There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Little Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Goode Beach, get engrossed in the history at Albany's Historic Whaling Station, and explore the activities along Cable Beach.

Getting from Margaret River to Albany by car takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of bus and flight. Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Ten Mile Lagoon and Hellfire Bay. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Salmon Beach and Twilight Bay. Spend the 14th (Thu) exploring nature at Cape Le Grand National Park. There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Thistle Cove and tour the pleasant surroundings at Blue Haven Beach.
