Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Get outdoors at Greens Pool and Anvil Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Little Beach and Cheynes Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Albany: Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup), Prawn Rock Channel (in Denmark) and Lowlands Beach (in Lowlands). There's much more to do: stroll through Betty's Beach, explore the striking landscape at The Gap and Natural Bridge, and look for all kinds of wild species at Muttonbird Beach and Shelter Island.
