Darwin

The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Bring the kids along to Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve and Crocosaurus Cove. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at East Point Reserve and Casuarina Coastal Reserve. Change things up with a short trip to Territory Wildlife Park in Berry Springs (about 42 minutes away). Spend the 6th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Spend the 15th (Mon) on the water with a fishing tour. The adventure continues: kick back and relax at Mindil Beach, make a splash at Darwin Waterfront, take an exotic tour of a safari tour, and explore the activities along Lake Alexander.

To see traveler tips, where to stay, maps, and other tourist information, read Darwin route maker tool .

Getting from Jabiru (Kakadu National Park) to Darwin by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In July, daily temperatures in Darwin can reach 36°C, while at night they dip to 22°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 15th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
