A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Meelup Beach and Cowaramup Bay. Visiting Jewel Cave and Mammoth Cave will get you outdoors. Step out of Margaret River with an excursion to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in Augusta--about 42 minutes away. A holiday in Port Douglas balances an activity-filled getaway with plenty of opportunities to relax, thanks to its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and bustling beach life.
On the 2nd (Wed), discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour. On your second day here, identify plant and animal life at Mossman Gorge, then meet the residents at Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Four Mile Beach.
