Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Dicky Beach and King Island. Visiting Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and Moffat Beach will get you outdoors. There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at GOMA, get great views at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt. Named after Lord Byron's grandfather, Byron Bay is not only famous as the easternmost point of Australia, but even more so as one of the liveliest vacation spots in the country.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Mon): stroll through Broken Head Beach, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Lennox Head Beach, and then stroll through Cape Byron Walking Track. On the 25th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the exciting artwork at Jules Hunt Studio Gallery and then glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area.

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Trinity Beach and Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas. Escape the urban bustle at Palm Cove Beach and River Rafting & Tubing. Venture out of the city with trips to Australian Butterfly Sanctuary (in Kuranda) and With Sugar (in Port Douglas). Spend the 26th (Wed) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour.
