Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Take a break from Albany with a short trip to Mount Barker The Old Police Station in Mount Barker, about 58 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: examine the collection at National Anzac Centre, appreciate the history behind Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, make a trip to Field of Light: Avenue of Honour, and kick back and relax at Little Beach.

Walpole is a town in the south-western region of Western Australia, located approximately south southeast of Perth and west of Denmark.Location and descriptionWalpole lies very close to the northern point of the 100ha Walpole Inlet, from which it takes its name.The inlet in turn is named for the Walpole River, discovered in 1831 by Captain Thomas Bannister, and named by Governor Stirling for Captain W. Change things up with these side-trips from Walpole: Pemberton (The Pemberton Visitor Centre & Museum & Gloucester Tree) and Denmark (Moombaki Wines, Greens Pool, & more). Spend the 20th (Tue) exploring nature at Mount Frankland National Park. There's still lots to do: trek along Tree Top Walk and kick back and relax at Mandalay Beach.
