A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Relax by the water at Trinity Beach and Palm Cove Beach. When in Cairns, make a side trip to see Spas in Palm Cove, approximately 30 minutes away. There's still lots to do: discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St Monica's Cathedral, trek along Esplanade Boardwalk, and take in nature's colorful creations at Botanical Gardens.
