Wollongong, informally referred to as "The Gong", is a seaside city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Kiama Coastal Walk and Cathedral Rocks. Visiting Lake Alexandra Reserve and Red Cow Farm will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Wollongong side-trips: Berrima District Museum (in Berrima) and Mittagong (Tertini Wines, Artemis Wines, & more). It doesn't end there: take some stellar pictures from Sublime Point Lookout.
