Margaret River

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Step off the beaten path and head to Hamelin Bay and Ngilgi Cave. Step out of the city life by going to Lake Cave and Jewel Cave. Change things up with a short trip to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in Augusta (about 42 minutes away). Located off of the Great Western Highway, Katoomba is the main hub of the City of Blue Mountains.
On the 9th (Sun), make a trip to Echo Point Lookout, take some stellar pictures from The Three Sisters, then trek along Coachwood Glen Nature Trail, then take some stellar pictures from Govetts Leap, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Wentworth Falls. Keep things going the next day: take in breathtaking views at Pulpit Rock Lookout, then trek along Cathedral of Ferns Walk, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Blue Mountains, and finally explore the stunning scenery at Lincoln's Rock.

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
