Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Greens Pool and Lowlands Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Waychinicup National Park and Muttonbird Beach and Shelter Island. Explore Albany's surroundings by going to Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup) and Denmark (Lights Beach & Anvil Beach). There's more to do: take in the dramatic natural features at The Gap and Natural Bridge and admire the striking features of The Church of Saint John the Evangelist.
