Cairns

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Step off the beaten path and head to Trinity Beach and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Step out of the city life by going to Palm Cove Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cairns: Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas (in Port Douglas) and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary (in Kuranda). There's more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Mossman Gorge and view the masterpieces at Bones and Jones.

Plan my Cairns trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

Nottingham, UK to Cairns is an approximately 26-hour combination of train and flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or fly. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 10 hours traveling from Nottingham to Cairns. Prepare for much hotter weather when traveling from Nottingham in April: high temperatures in Cairns hover around 34°C and lows are around 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Brisbane.

Next up on the itinerary: identify plant and animal life at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, have some family-friendly fun at Psychic Readings Twin Featherz, don't miss a visit to City Hall, and enjoy the sea views from Caloundra Lighthouses.
