Albany

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Get some historical perspective at Princess Royal Fortress and The Albany Convict Gaol & Museum. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at South Coast WoodWorks Gallery and Albany Town Hall. When in Albany, make a side trip to see Singlefile Wines in Denmark, approximately 56 minutes away. Spend the 23rd (Tue) observing fascinating marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour. The adventure continues: stroll through Middleton Beach, browse the collection at Albany Public Library, and enjoy the sand and surf at Little Beach.
