Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Step off the beaten path and head to Cheynes Beach and Nanarup Beach. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Misery Beach and Little Beach, Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve. Get out of town with these interesting Albany side-trips: Denmark (Greens Pool & Lights Beach). There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Goode Beach, pause for some photo ops at Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, explore the striking landscape at The Gap and Natural Bridge, and stroll through Middleton Beach.

Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. Relax by the water at Salmon Beach and Twilight Beach. Get outdoors at Hellfire Bay and West Beach. Spend the 13th (Tue) exploring nature at Cape Le Grand National Park. And it doesn't end there: identify plant and animal life at Thistle Cove, look for gifts at Mermaid Leather, steep yourself in history at Esperance Stonehenge, and stroll through Blue Haven Beach.
