Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Bring the kids along to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Bellerive Beach. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Salamanca Market and Hammer and Hand Metal Gallery. Step out of Hobart to go to Port Arthur and see Port Arthur Historic Site, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. There's still lots to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, steep yourself in history at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, take in the waterfront at Constitution Dock, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Battery Point Sculpture Trail.
