The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Visit St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral and The Old Town Hall for their historical value. Get a sense of the local culture at Mason Gallery and East Point Military Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Darwin: Litchfield National Park (Florence Falls & Buley Rockhole) and Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve (in Humpty Doo).
