Margaret River

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Hamelin Bay and McLeod Creek Wines. Venture out of the city with trips to Ngilgi Cave (in Yallingup) and Augusta (Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse & Jewel Cave). Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Explore hidden gems such as Little Beach and Cheynes Beach. Step out of Albany with an excursion to Greens Pool in Denmark--about 1 hour away. The adventure continues: stroll through Misery Beach, don't miss a visit to Albany Wind Farm, examine the collection at National Anzac Centre, and take an in-depth tour of Albany's Historic Whaling Station.

Coles Bay

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Sun): make a trip to Bicheno Blowhole, get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Wineglass Bay Lookout.
