Lent iconic status as a result of its famous bridge and opera house, Sydney has a down-to-earth charm that enhances its spectacular setting and functional efficiency.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Palm Beach and Coogee Beach. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Kiama Blowhole and Terrigal Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Sydney: Shelly Beach (in Manly), Werri Beach (in Gerringong) and Katoomba (The Giant Stairway & Wentworth Falls). Dedicate the 15th (Tue) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Explore Melbourne's surroundings by going to Sorrento Front Beach (in Sorrento), Werribee Open Range Zoo (in Werribee) and St George's Lake (in Creswick). The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Step out of the city life by going to Litchfield National Park and Florence Falls. Step off the beaten path and head to Territory Wildlife Park and Nature & Wildlife Tours. When in Darwin, make a side trip to see Buley Rockhole in Litchfield National Park, approximately 1h 20 min away. The adventure continues: make a splash at Wave Lagoon, brush up on your military savvy at Darwin Aviation Museum, enjoy the sand and surf at Lameroo Beach, and identify plant and animal life at East Point Reserve.
