Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Take a break from the city and head to Greens Pool and The Gap and Natural Bridge. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like National Anzac Centre and Albany's Historic Whaling Station. Explore Albany's surroundings by going to Cheynes Beach (in Waychinicup National Park) and Singlefile Wines (in Denmark). Next up on the itinerary: stroll through Little Beach, pause for some photo ops at Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, and enjoy the sand and surf at Middleton Beach.

You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Meelup Beach and Margaret River Mouth Beach. Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and Hamelin Bay Jetty are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with a short trip to Jewel Cave in Augusta (about 34 minutes away). Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720km east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Ten Mile Lagoon and Thistle Cove. Take a break from the city and head to Salmon Beach and Hellfire Bay. Spend the 23rd (Fri) exploring nature at Cape Le Grand National Park. A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Relax by the water at Trinity Beach and Palm Cove Beach. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Mossman Gorge and Historic Village Herberton. Step out of Cairns with an excursion to Australian Butterfly Sanctuary in Kuranda--about 36 minutes away. Spend the 27th (Tue) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour.
