Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Visit Battery Point Sculpture Trail and Cascades Female Factory Historic Site for their historical value. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Opossum Bay Beach and Kingston Beach. Go for a jaunt from Hobart to Brighton to see Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary about 30 minutes away. On the 18th (Tue), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Step out of the city life by going to Spiky Beach Conservation Area and Freycinet National Park. You'll get in some beach time at Wineglass Bay Lookout and Coles Bay Jetty. Step out of Coles Bay with an excursion to Spring Vale Wines in Cranbrook--about 34 minutes away. The adventure continues: get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour and get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour.
