Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Bring the kids along to Greens Pool and Little Beach. Go for a jaunt from Albany to Stirling Range National Park to see Bluff Knoll about 1h 20 min away. There's much more to do: examine the collection at National Anzac Centre, appreciate the history behind Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, enjoy the sand and surf at Nanarup Beach, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Middleton Beach.

Drive from Esperance to Albany in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a bus. In September, plan for daily highs up to 21°C, and evening lows to 9°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Margaret River.

A low-rise, laid-back town of approximately 4,500 inhabitants, Margaret River serves as an ideal local base to explore the surrounding wine region.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Meelup Beach and Cowaramup Bay. Explore Margaret River's surroundings by going to Jewel Cave (in Augusta) and Busselton (Dolphin & Whale Watching & Busselton Jetty). Exmouth is a town on the tip of the North West Cape in Western Australia. Attractions like Turquoise Bay and Osprey Bay make great kid-friendly stops.
