Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Relax by the water at Kings Beach and Bulcock Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Scuba & Snorkeling and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Explore Brisbane's surroundings by going to Maleny (Maleny Dairies & Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve). Next up on the itinerary: enjoy the sand and surf at Dicky Beach, admire the natural beauty at Roma Street Parkland, admire all the interesting features of Suncorp Stadium, and stroll through Moffat Beach.

Escape the urban bustle at Kirra Beach and Coolangatta Beach. You'll get in some beach time at Burleigh Head National Park and Lennox Head Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Gold Coast: Byron Bay (Kayaking & Canoeing, Stand-Up Paddleboarding, & more). Spend the 16th (Wed) exploring nature at Natural Bridge. You can drive from Brisbane to Gold Coast in an hour. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. In January in Gold Coast, expect temperatures between 33°C during the day and 24°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Thu) to allow time to travel to Sydney.
