Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like The Albany Convict Gaol & Museum and The Church of Saint John the Evangelist. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Dolphin & Whale Watching and Little Beach. Change things up with a short trip to Bluff Knoll in Stirling Range National Park (about 1h 20 min away). The adventure continues: tour the pleasant surroundings at Middleton Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Emu Point, and see the interesting displays at Western Australian Museum - Albany.

Sydney to Albany is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. The time zone changes from Australian Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) to Australian Western Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference.
