A modern metropolis of glassy skyscrapers, waterside boulevards, and lush residential neighborhoods, Perth sits on the edge of the Swan Coastal Plain.
Stirling Cottage and Harvey Internment Camp Memorial Shrine are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll get in some beach time at Mullaloo Beach and Warnbro Beach. Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
On the 11th (Mon), steep yourself in history at Princess Royal Fortress, then kick back and relax at Misery Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Goode Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: look for all kinds of wild species at Muttonbird Beach and Shelter Island and then steep yourself in history at The Albany Convict Gaol & Museum.
