Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Step off the beaten path and head to Albany's Historic Whaling Station and Little Beach. Change things up with a short trip to Greens Pool in Denmark (about 1 hour away). There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Middleton Beach, examine the collection at National Anzac Centre, appreciate the history behind Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, and explore the striking landscape at The Gap and Natural Bridge.
