Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Visit Anvil Beach and Nanarup Beach for some beach relaxation. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Lowlands Beach and Cheynes Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Albany: Shelley Beach (in Denmark), Cosy Corner Beach (in Kronkup) and The Denmark Heritage Cider Company (in Scotsdale). There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Middleton Beach, stroll through Betty's Beach, visit a coastal fixture at Point King Lighthouse, and admire the striking features of The Church of Saint John the Evangelist.
