Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Take a break from the city and head to Seven Mile Beach and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. On the 4th (Tue), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. The adventure continues: indulge your thirst for a good beer at Cascade Brewery, take in the waterfront at Constitution Dock, go for a walk through Battery Point Sculpture Trail, and wander the streets of North Hobart.

Sydney to Hobart is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Traveling from Sydney in December, things will get little chillier in Hobart: highs are around 24°C and lows about 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) so you can travel back home.
